1. After the visit, we were able to verify the leaking problems that exist in Building #57 Warehouse/Laundry. Due to the height of the ceiling and not being able to perform a comprehensive inspection above the ceiling, will the USFS please clarify the following questions: What type of drywall you require us to install? Currently, there are different types installed, some smooth and others with texture. How are the ceiling panels installed? Is there a substructure on the Bar Joist where the drywall is installed? Is there insulation above the ceiling?
The finish would match the existing adjoining material. Code says 5/8” ceiling rock. The basis of design is there is insulation in the ceiling and the repair would be installed the same way the existing is.
2. In certain parts of building #13A Administrative, we noticed that the Stone cap is in bad condition (see picture below). Does the government want this replaced and included in the proposal?
No-That cap is not in the scope of work.
3. I’m inquiring regarding mostly the scale to listed measurement discrepancies shown on the drawings. The actual scale when plotted on the listed scale measurement is 1/16” per foot. My question is, the given measurements on the roof plans are very different, considerably less or even ridiculously more (bldg. 68), so which is the accurate measurement, the scale or those numbers provided on the plans?
The hard dimension are on the sheets of the building dimensions, not the roof dimensions.
4. Soffits on select buildings are sloped. Do all sloped soffits get replaced with box soffits.
You can install them the same or level.
5. All gutters will need to be removed to install the drip edge. Some are damaged some have face mounting straps and some are non- existent. The SOW does not clearly address gutters. Are new gutters to be installed.
Keynote 1 on every building that is getting gutters clearly states new gutters for the building. It also states to coordinate the downspout locations.
6. Gym Building 14- To clarify the existing gutters are not in the SOW.
Correct, building 14 is not getting new gutters.
7. Pole Barn does not have gutters. Are gutters to be added.
The plans do not call for gutters.
8. Will the government accept a 16’’ wide panel, instead of the specified 12’’?
yes as long as it meets the rest of the specifications.
9. For the pole building (bldg. 82), it states to replace the first 6 purlins, does this mean the first 6 for the entire length of the building on both sides?
In the water damaged area indicated on the plans.
10. On the Urban Forestry building we noticed that it has aluminum vented soffit in place. Is it the governments intention to remove and replace all of the soffit or repair the damaged pieces? If we repair the damaged pieces, what is the governments stance on the colors not matching do to weatherization of the existing?
100% replace and the attic venting needs to be addressed per the plan.
11. Does the government have a basis of design for the siding and windows on the automotive shop? There is nothing in the drawings or specs regarding these items.
There are no windows or siding in the plans
12. There is a large attached carport on the urban forestry building, does the ceiling of the carport get new soffit?
No, the ceiling is finished as you can see in the plans. Soffit is soffit as shown around the carport.
13. On the rear elevation of King Hall Building there is a large shed roof area over the walkout basement. Does this area receive new soffit and trim?
If there is soffit now, yes.
14. Is synthetic underlayment an acceptable alternative to saturated felt paper?
Yes, that is in the spec.
15. Gymnasium: After inspecting this building we think it would be best for the government to use a retrofit simple saver system to do this repair. A link to this product is attached.
Please advise if the government will accept this alternative method.
Bid the project as specified.
16. Building 68 appears to have bad measurements. Has it at 1013.28 x 843.06 on page 11 of Replacement Plan. On my satellite measurement have the total perimeter 211 feet.
Dimension error in the print. Corrected sheet and a corrected plan set.
17. Drawing D1.1 Detail 5 Shows ventilation baffle, are these existing, if not is the contractor to install.
Keynote #5 on the building with vents it says that it needs to meet the detail. So, if the building does not have the exiting baffles to match the sqft of the soffit and the ridge, the contractor needs to add baffles. It requires the contractor to provide proper flow from the soffit to ridge vent.
18. Spec page 010150-4, item 5 Building 74 has gutters in the heading however there is not any mention of gutters in the SOW for building 74. Are new gutters to be installed.
Sub notes 1-7 do not list it directly. However the plans call for them and the specs support gutters. Per the plan, Building 12 and 82 do not call for gutters.
19. SOW mentions gutter guards, nothing in the specs. Are gutter guards to be installed and which type.
I found no reference to gutter guards in the SOW nor the plans. Therefore, no gutter guards.
20. Ice guards are mentioned the scope of work but there is not a spec or description for them. Are Ice Guards to be installed and which type.
There is a full section in the specification.
21. “B” style gutters are listed in the description (076200-7) however “K” style are on select buildings. Are “K” style gutters acceptable.
B style is specified.
22. SOW description does not mention gutters. Gutters will need to be removed to install the drip edge.
The plans call for them and the specs support gutters. Per the plan, Building 12 and 82 do not call for gutters.
23. Are new gutters to be installed and can they be “K” style. Also are gutters required on the Pole Barn.
See all the other notes, this is repeating Question.
24. Building 68 Automotive description items 8 and 9 mentions windows and siding replacement. Is this part of this contract.
Correct, 8 and 9 are a typo. They are to be ignored
25. Will porta-potty be acceptable on the grounds.
YES
26. Can the working hours of 8am-4:30pm be adjusted.
Yes, with discussion and approval. We will not commit until award and discussion, and approval.
