Multi-building Fire Alarm Systems Boxelder Job Corps Center, Nemo, South Dakota

Responses to contractor questions:

1) After visiting the site, It seems that the summary of work for Male Dormitory H1 and H2 are swapped. Can you confirm? Answer: We have not been able to confirm this, however the scope of work has been changed to replace the system in this dorm.

2) Would it be acceptable to bid a replacement fire alarm system for all three dorms with the same scope as H2,& H3. Answer: The scope of work has been changed to a replacement.

3) The time frame for this project states 60 days after notice to proceed to have all of the work completed. This time frame seems a little tight. Is it possible to have more time to complete the work. Answer: The period of performance will be 90 days.

4) In Building R1, Gymnasium, part b, the scope of work is a little confusing. Can we get clarification on where the 15’ rule applies? Answer: The scope of work was revised to clarify the requirement.

5) Does each building need to be fully tested upon completion of the scope of work? Or is testing only required for the new devices. Answer: Test the entire building to ensure the new work did not cause issues with existing devices. Inform the Contracting Officer if any devices not identified in the SOW are non-operational prior to starting work.

6) Will each pull station need to be lower to meet ADA requirement in each of these buildings? Answer: Yes. This was added to the SOW.

7) Is free aired wiring methods acceptable in concealed spaces? Answer: No, refer to Spec section 283111 3.3 Conduits and Wireways.

8) Will exposed conduit need to be painted to match existing surface? Answer: No.

9) In exposed areas, is surface mount conduit acceptable everywhere? Answer: Yes, however, wiring shall be routed through concealed areas where possible, per Spec Section 283111 3.3 Conduits and Wireways.

10) Will the contractor be able to use restrooms while on site? Answer: Yes. The typo in Spec Section 010150 4.2.A was corrected.

11) Is a bid bond required? Answer: No.
