The contractor must replace a failed Maxxforce 9 330HP engine (VIN: 1HTWCAZN6EH792527) in International fire apparatus Unit 6372 with a certified OEM or equivalent replacement engine meeting GHG14 emissions compliance standards. The vehicle is currently non-operable and located at McCandless Truck Center in Sparks, Nevada, and must be towed to the contractor's repair facility at the contractor's expense.
The scope requires the contractor to perform complete engine removal, inspection of mounting frame and associated systems, installation of the replacement engine with proper alignment and torque specifications, reconnection of all ancillary systems (cooling, fuel, air intake, exhaust, electrical, sensors, and ECU), start-up procedures with cooling system bleeding and calibration per OEM guidelines, and comprehensive testing to verify operation. The contractor must deliver the vehicle with all components installed, updated maintenance and service records, engine warranty documentation, a post-installation test results report, and final authorization confirming vehicle readiness. Warranty requirements specify a minimum of three years or 300,000 miles for parts and at least one year of labor coverage. The estimated project timeline runs from February 15, 2026 to March 31, 2026, with flexibility for parts availability and weather. The Forest Service will review and accept the completed work, with the contractor responsible for proper disposal of replaced components and fluids in accordance with environmental regulations.
