About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation providing additional questions and answers, notification of a site visit, and extension of the quote submission deadline. The Sabino Canyon Toilet Replacement solicitation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service R3-Southwestern Region seeks quotes to replace toilets at Sabino Canyon. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for September 27, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. at the back gate of 5700 N. Sabino Canyon Rd in Tucson, Arizona. The quote submission deadline is extended to September 29, 2023 at 8:00 A.M. Arizona time. The amendment includes answers to three questions confirming archaeological monitoring requirements, the ability of trails and roads to support heavy equipment weighing around 100,000 pounds without damage, and vegetation clearing required for crane access.

Here are three questions with answers:

1. Are there any cultural resources or special species that will need consideration for this job?

ANSWER: Per the NEPA document all new ground disturbance may be monitored by a Forest archaeologist. This includes the Rattlesnake

Restroom. The monitoring shall not impact construction schedule. No federal threatened and endangered species, designated critical habitat, or Forest Service Sensitive species will be impacted. No mitigations shall be required.

2. Can the trails hold heavy equipment without causing damage to the trails? Semi with toilets will be around 100,000 lb¿s? Who is responsible for damages if they occur?

ANSWER: Travel on trails is not required to access the work sites. The National Forest System

Roads leading to the work sites are paved. We do not anticipate any damage to roadways as a tractor trailer has recently transported a 2-hole

CXT building on the same road system.

3. Can plants/ trees be removed and ground graded for access by crane/semi?

ANSWER: For a crane to access the work sites, no tree trimming or vegetation removal of any kind shall be required. However, clearing and grubbing will be required prior to installation of the CXT building at the Rattlesnake site.
