REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) OFFICIAL RESPONSES

127EAW21R0034 - Renovate El Cariso Campground

RFI responses will be responded to as necessary in amendment format which will be posted to the solicitation via beta.SAM.gov

Telephone requests for information will not be accepted or returned.

RFI #1 – The plans do not have scales or dimensions (primarily sheet C-03), was this intentional?

USFS Response – Scale not included on PDF. ACAD format drawing is available for measuring purposes; alternatively, separate engineering scaled PDF file will be created if requested.

RFI #2 – Details on sheet C-04 do not have dimensions or scale.

USFS Response – Typical has varying dimensions, maintain existing dimension/configuration.

At the site visit Trien let us know that he would be posting the survey with measurements of the campground. When will this be posted?

USFS Response – ACAD file provided (attached)

RFI #3 – At the site visit it was also mentioned that the agency will provide surveying staking, please confirm if this is accurate.

USFS Response – the Forest provides ACAD drawing and presents at least 3 survey control points on the ground (for example: points 3094, 3001, 3004). So the contractor can establish construction staking.

RFI #4 – Is there an official count as to how many trees have disturbed the AC pavement?

(example incidental #1 near entrance)

USFS Response – No. The trees near the entrance gate appear to need root barrier (10 ft. + 10 ft.). Other areas may have roots under the road but will only require root removal within scarifying depth during roadbed reconditioning, no root barrier is required.

RFI #5 – How many LF of root barrier will be needed?

USFS Response – 10 ft. + 10 ft. Each side of the road edge by the gate has 10 ft.

RFI #6 – Please confirm that the site will be closed to the public during construction.

USFS Response – The Campground will be closed during construction for safety reason.

FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY

RFI #7 – Please confirm that the contractor should anticipate 1’ of clear and grub on each side of the AC pavement road.

USFS Response – Minimize as practical and only allowed where there is no existing features, for example: bollards or rock walls. Choose equipment or construction methods accordingly.

RFI #8 – Does the agency have a LF of lead offs that will be removed and replaced?

USFS Response – 20 ft. + 6 ft. + 16 ft.

RFI #9 – Does the agency have the LF of curb to be removed and replaced?

USFS Response – 60 ft. + 45 ft. + (new) 42 ft.

RFI #10 – Will new striping be required, if so, does the agency have a striping plan for new asphalt?

USFS Response – No new striping required. Replace in-kind.

RFI #11 – Will traffic control interfere with the fire station across the road? If so, can the agency provide an approved traffic control plan.

USFS Response – The contractor is responsible for traffic control plan including permit with

CalTrans authority on CA-74. Fire station entrance must not be interfered (emergency service, fire season)

RFI #12 – Will the sign in sheet be posted?

USFS Response – No
