About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Request for Quotation (RFQ) 127EAU26Q0055 for Pack Stock Hay supplies to the Sierra National Forest. The document addresses three key operational questions regarding delivery and site logistics for hay bale procurement.
Contractors are required to deliver and stack hay bales directly at the Auberry Work Center (35130 Wish-I-Ah Road) using a hay squeeze that comes with the truck, with Forest Service personnel supervising the unloading process. The contractor bears full responsibility for offloading labor and equipment, including provision of the hay squeeze. Regarding site access, the work center has historically accommodated 53-foot flatbed semi-trucks, though potential construction activities may require the hay truck to park on Wish-I-Ah Road with hay transferred via squeeze to the final stacking area. These clarifications establish that contractors must provide complete delivery solutions including specialized equipment and labor for on-site hay placement and stacking operations.

Pack Stock Hay, Sierra NF Q and As
Q. 1. Delivery point – Is the contractor required to hand-deliver and stack the bales directly inside the hay barn/warehouse at Auberry Work Center, or is delivery to a designated outdoor receiving area sufficient?
A. The contractor is required to deliver and stack the hay at the work center. This is done with a hay squeeze that comes with the truck. The area where the hay needs to b stacked is very specific and I will be there to supervise the unloading
Q. 2. Offload – Will USDA Forest Service personnel offload and stack the bales, contractor responsible for offload labor and equipment?
A. This was answered in #1 above. The contractor must provide a squeeze to unload the hay.
Q. 3. Site access – Can the Auberry Work Center (35130 Wish-I-Ah Rd) accommodate a 53-ft flatbed semi, or is a smaller vehicle required?
A. In the past the work center has always been able to accommodate the truck but there may be construction happening this year that would necessitate the hay truck park down on Wish-I-Ah Road and use the squeeze to move the hay to the stacking area.
