About this file

This is an amendment to a solicitation for survey posts for the Plumas National Forest. The Forest Service seeks 6,400 galvanized steel survey posts to be delivered in four installments by September 30, 2025, with the first shipment of 2,000 posts due within 90 days of award. Bids are due by December 15, 2023. The amendment provides responses to vendor questions, clarifying that aluminum posts are unacceptable, shipping does not require a lift gate as the delivery site has a forklift, and posts may have more than five holes as long as the required five are properly spaced. It also confirms the shipping address.

SEE BELOW FOR QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT RESPONSES.

Question: Would your organization be able to take these post in segments at 2000 at a time?

Government Response: Yes, ONLY IF the schedule meets our time needs.

Question: What is time frame is for needing all 6400 that you’re seeking?

Government Response: 2,000 in first 90 days, 2,000 NLT 6 months later, 2,000 NLT 6 months later, final 400 NLT 6 months later; contract fulfilled by September 30, 2025. Earlier is absolutely acceptable.

Question: The posts would ship out on pallets therefore we need to know if you are needing a jack and lift gate in order to price out shipping for you?

Government Response: We have a forklift at the delivery site. We do NOT need a jack and a lift gate as part of the order. They should notify ahead of arrival.

Question: Confirming the shipping address to be at Plumas National Forest, 159 Lawrence St. in Quincy, CA 95971 Government Response: Yes.

Question: In the attachment provided at sam.gov the specifications for the survey post have a wedge at the end.

Will the agency accept offers for materials that will have no wedge at the end?

Government Response: I don’t believe a wedge (or not) will be an issue.

Question: The post has indicated 5 finish holes that are spread out according to spec. Will you also accept posts that may have more than 5 holes within the post itself?

Government Response: The number of holes shouldn’t be a problem either, AS LONG AS THERE ARE AT LEAST THE 5 WITH THE PROPER SPACING AND DIAMETER. That’s the important part, that our signs will line up and can be riveted securely.

Question: Would the aluminum post be acceptable, or does it absolutely have to be galvanized steel?

Government Response: Aluminum is NOT acceptable.
