Little Creek Bridge Site Visit 7/9/19 - Q&A
Q1. Plan page 3, note 2 references salvageable material… what is salvageable? Wood beams, cut-off piles, double T's. Please clarify. And where is the Forest Service Maintenance Yard for delivery of the salvageable materials?
It is anticipated that little if any material will be worth salvaging, but that determination will be finalized on site by the COR as demolition progresses. Contractor should plan on removal and offsite disposal of all material, with a few items potentially being relocated to the Sam Houston RD office in New Waverly, TX instead of the landfill.
Q2. Is there a place to make a turnaround for dump trucks, concrete trucks, 18-wheelers with trailers doing the haul-off & delivery of beams, plates, etc.? Could we make a temp turn- around? We would have to install temp culverts and some fill.
There is currently no designated turnaround. A temporary turnaround would be permitted with on-site approval from COR (construction and removal). This should be addressed in your proposal.
Q3. Is there a geotechnical report available on the bridge?
Yes, it has been posted to www.fbo.gov
Added 7/12/19
Q4. Page 10 of the Soils Report - Pile Driving Records - An independent inspector should keep an accurate and detailed driving log during production of pile driving operations. Who provides and pays for the independent inspector? Also Bid Item 4 - Contractor Testing Lump Sum - Is this bid item for the "independent inspector" for the pile driving? If not, what is to be included in the bid item #4?
The contractor pays for the independent inspector, who is 3rd party, not in-house employee. Item four is intended to cover all testing needed to complete the project.
