1.0 Introduction:

A Firm Fixed Priced contract vehicle will be used to secure the purchase the African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) and Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV) primers and probes are required for ongoing outbreak surveillance efforts in the Dominican Republic and surveillance in the continental US as well as Puerto Rico.

2.0 BACKGROUND:

The African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) and Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV) primers and probes are required for ongoing outbreak surveillance efforts in the Dominican Republic and surveillance in the continental US as well as Puerto Rico. The supplies are CRITICAL to support the US diagnostic efforts to prevent ASFV/CSFV from entering US swine herds.

The APHIS Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL) worked closely with Thermo Fisher to provide these proprietary primers commercially in the event of a US outbreak, therefore, Thermo Fisher is the only company that is capable of providing these required tests.

The FADDL has worked closely with Thermo Fisher to provide these proprietary primers commercially in the event of a US outbreak, therefore, Thermo Fisher is the only company that is capable of providing these required tests.

Additionally, FADDL has certified the product standards and expectations for these primers would meet the mission needs by producing these unique reagents. The production workflow requires an additional purification step including high quality control standards at 100%. The specified primers and probes are the only primers and probes approved for testing by FADDL and therefore they are the only reagents we are able to use in ongoing ASFV response efforts. The manufacturing is only available from one responsible qualified source currently. There are no other type of property or services that can provide all required materials required for this requisition as stated in the scope of work. Thermo Fisher is the manufacturer of these Probes and Primers
