Solicitation Questions and Answers

1 – Do the sky lights need to be hurricane impact or just the regular plastic sky lights?

To our knowledge, hurricane impact skylights are only required in coastal areas. So, while it would be nice for the skylights to meet that standard, we don’t believe it is a local requirement. The existing skylights are K-energy skylights, model SS 4646, by Kennedy Skylights. They are a standing seam domed polycarbonate skylight and were installed in 1988. We are looking for an in-kind replacement.

2 – The solicitation mentions (2) different underlayment, for this project the moisture barrier appears to meet the requirements that are needed. Can you please clarify the reflective bubble underlayment?

Regarding the reflective foil bubble underlayment, the intention is for it to act as a radiant barrier and also provide some sound insulating benefit. In serving its primary purpose as a radiant barrier, it should be installed according to manufacturer’s recommendations, which should require that it be installed under or between battens with an air space between the reflective underlayment and metal roof.
