ATTACHMENT 02
STATEMENT OF WORK
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service
Southern Research Station Athens, Georgia Facilities Specifications for
Removal of Designated ASBESTOS-CONTAINING MATERIAL General: Complete removal and disposal of approximately 450 SF of ACM consisting of various sizes of Thermal Systems Insulation (TSI) as described below. Removal and disposal shall be accomplished in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations. See attached Asbestos Abatement Guidelines for reference.
Specific requirements:
Remove Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) TSI from the heating and chilled water lines, main Air Handling Unit body and return plenum in the Mechanical Room of the South Building. Work on the Air Handling unit shall be limited to the area between the flexible duct connect at the top of the return plenum and the flexible duct connector at the supply air dampers. Asbestos inspection confirmed these are the two primary sources of ACM in this area. ACM in the mechanical room has been effectively encapsulated and does not pose a hazard if left undisturbed. The intent of the project is to permit safe access for replacement of the piping and for inspection and repair of the shell and internal components of the air handler and does not include any work on the remaining duct insulation in the room. Re-insulation of the exposed duct and piping will be addressed under a separate contract once inspection and repair has been completed.
