About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation Number 12445523R0004 for the Mark Twain National Forest Vault Toilets project. The USDA Forest Service is seeking to remove existing vault toilets at five sites within the Mark Twain National Forest and furnish and install prefabricated precast concrete vault toilet buildings that meet ADA accessibility standards. The document clarifies that chases are required for three of the sites but not the other two. It also specifies concrete apron and sidewalk requirements for three of the sites. The questions confirm that bid guarantees are required, no permits are needed, and the periods of performance listed in attachments for 2021 and 2022 should be assumed to apply to 2023 for construction.

Attachment 5 – Questions and Answers
1. Attachment 3 does not mention whether a 'Chase' is needed on the modification of the double-vaults, please confirm.
Response: Loggers Lake, Marble Creek, and Berryman should include a chase; McCormack and Caney do not require a chase.
2. Please clarify concrete sidewalks outside of the buildings.
Response: Loggers Lake- No concrete is needed, if building is placed adjacent to the asphalt parking lot. If installation does not allow this, then any space between the building and asphalt would need concrete the length of the building. Concrete shall be 4” depth over 4” compacted 1” crushed aggregate.
Marble Creek- Include a 5’ wide concrete apron along the length of the front of the building. See attached sketch (Attachment 6) that illustrates this. Sidewalk needed is 30’ long by 5’ wide. Concrete shall be 4” depth over 4” of compacted 1” crushed aggregate.
Berryman- Include 5’ wide concrete apron along the front of the building, see attached sketch (Attachment 6). Sidewalk needed is 20’ long by 5’ wide. Concrete shall be 4” depth over 4” of compacted 1” crushed aggregate.
McCormack- No concrete work is needed at this site.
Caney - Contractor is required to protect existing rock wall, concrete, and sidewalks at the site. In the event of damage, contractor to repair/replace in-kind with COR approval.
3. Is a Bid Guarantee required?
Response: Yes
4. Will there be any permits required for this project?
Response: No permits have been identified as being required for this project.
5. The attachments for each site list periods of performance in 2021 or 2022; can we assume those same months apply but just in 2023? i.e. construction in the fall of 2023?
Response: Yes
