CRANE LAKE PRE-BID CONFERENCE
12445521Q0166
27AUG2021 1000
1. Turf Establishment: How do you want the seed spread? Broadcaster or drill? Broadcasting will be used to seed areas.
2. Road needs mowing do we add this? No mowing will be added to contract.
3. Roadbed needs bladed, do we add recondition/blading on roadbed before aggregate placement? A lot of potholes and not smooth to spread rock down Roadbed will be bladed using our FS annual blading contract this Fall.
4. Maintain existing curve widening areas along road? No mowing or road blading, how can we maintain these areas? Does it really need to be maintained? Curve widening maintenance will remain as is in the contract description.
5. Clearing and Grubbing? What do we do with all the marketable timber 9” diameter and above?
Do we slash it and push it in woods? Do we take it ownership? Or does FS timber markers come and mark it and log it?
Also, need clarification on the 150’ clearing and grubbing section of road. The marketable timber from clearing and grubbing will be taken into ownership by the awarded contractor. It will be their responsibility to cut clear and grub the trees, stumps and treetops/limbs will be done by the FP-14 specifications attached to the solicitation/project. Contractor will need to haul logs off or call a logger to haul them out.
The 150’ clearing and grubbing section of road, will be cleared just enough to open the road up-with curve widening section on right(10’ width) and building the road to 20’ width through that section.
So, does not need to go to 150’, but that was placed in there to capture the area to be able to excavate and widen road out for the future Dam project.
So, contractor will only clear enough for the curve widening section and the excavation section.
6. Excavation and Embankment? When we cut down steepness of hill that is 15-16% now, how much do we take it down to? 12% or 7%? Also, what do we do when we run into bid rock, bedrock? Do we drill?
No cost for that now. Wait and see? The hill is right now 15-16% in grade steepness. The hill will need to be excavated down to a 10% grade steepness in contract.
If bedrock is hit, then we will stop at that point with that grade of steepness. No cost will be added for rock drilling because there will be no need to rock drill.
