About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file dated January 15, 2026, for a Vehicle Upfitting solicitation (Solicitation Number: 12444626Q0009) issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The Q&A clarifies several technical specifications for upfitting two law enforcement vehicles, including key details about vehicle equipment and modifications.

Specific Q&A highlights include: the government will provide and install grille guards, removing that requirement from the Statement of Work; winches will come pre-installed from the factory; vehicles will have dial shifters; and a Bendix King mobile radio (exact model unspecified) needs to be pre-wired. The government will handle vehicle transportation, with no specific pickup or drop-off points specified. The solicitation involves upfitting two law enforcement vehicles in accordance with an attached Statement of Work, with Amendment 0001 added on 1/15/26 to include the Q&A document.

Q&A, 1/15/2026

Q1) The SOW says that the Zone A perimeter lights are to be installed in a grille guard. Is the grille guard also part of the specification, or is there already one installed/will they have to be in the grille instead?

A1) The gov’t will buy/install grill guards. The installation of Zone A perimeter lights is no longer a requirement of the SOW.

Q2) What is the pickup and dropoff point(s) for the vehicles? I see it's for Chequmegon-Nicolet National Forest, but what address?

A2) There are no pickup or drop off points for the vehicles, we will transport them to/from the vendor.

Q3) Will the winch be included, and is the wiring for that still necessary? What model of winch should we prewire for?

A3) The winches have come preinstalled from the factory.

Q4) What model radio should we prewire for/keep flying leads for power/gorund/antenna?

A4) The radio will be a Bendix King mobile, however we do not know the exact model.

Q5) Do the vehicles have floor shifters or the dial/column shifters?

A5) They are dial shifters.
