Q&A 12444324Q0033 - ALF Bradford RD & Marienville RD Bat Mist-net Surveys 02APR2024 Q1. I had a question regarding pricing for the bat mist net surveys in the Allegheny National Forest. The Schedule of Items only includes a unit price for the mist netting, but the work may also require radio tracking of up to 30 bats. Should we assume in our pricing that we will be tracking 30 bats even though, in our experience, that is unlikely to occur? Should those costs be distributed among the net sites and included in the unit cost, or would it be better to have a separate line item with a price per bat?

A1. To clarify, we are requiring 2 nights for trapping a site regardless of capture of a target species and nets will remain open each night for the duration regardless of captures to maximize the information gained for the size of a population within the netting area. The vendor should distribute the cost of 2 nights of possible tracking in the unit cost of each site, with the maximum number of instances of tracking being 30.
