Questions and Answers

Solicitation 12444022Q0031

Can a compact track loader (aka) skid steer be used for power unit of the mowing; the cutter will still be a Bush hog? This may be sufficient. We will also have to be very cognizant of the potential for ground disturbance with tracks and/or wheels when turning.

On page 3 of the SOW the second item is “Cut and remove trees greater than0.027 day/tree 6” diameter These are just the trees that may have fallen in the road that are blocking access. In the past contractors have used a chainsaw to cut then the front-end loader on the tractor to move them out of the way. They just need to be moved enough for access to the worksite.

The schedule of items on page 4 has reference:

o It talks about “301B Aggregate 825B Tailgate Spread” but is not mentioned in the SOW?

o The pay unit is “ea” please clarify the relationship of “ea” to tons or

Cub Yards? The customer is just expecting mowing and removing the trees that are required to access the site. Please see corrected schedule of items attached.

What is the item number 2- 301b aggregate 825b tailgate spread in regards to on schedule of items? Please see corrected schedule of items.

Are these acreage all mowed all together at same time every year and is it just one mow a year? Generally the sites are mowed once a year, however multiple task orders may be issues according to the government`s need and funding.

What mower was used in the past here? Batwing behind a tractor? Yes in the past the contractor has used a batwing style bush hog behind a tractor. They generally have a front-end loaded to remove cut trees easily to access the sites too.

Has a 7–8-foot rotary cutter behind a tractor ever been used in the past on this acreage? The reason I ask is we have a 8 foot rhino heavy duty rotary cutter. Not to my knowledge. My only concern would be the inability to use the batwing style mower to catch the areas along the edges of the roads and fields since anything behind the tractor would not be able to “hang over” the edge or get up on the bank like you can with the bat wing style.
