About this file

This is a project map for the Sweet Trunk Trail #274, a trail construction project located within the Custer Gallatin National Forest, Northern Region, Yellowstone Ranger District in Montana. The map depicts the proposed trail route, marked with a red dashed line, spanning approximately 30+ miles across multiple USDA Forest Service sections and township/range grid squares. The trail is intended to be constructed to connect various geographic features including Eagle Park in the north, progressing south through areas near Wolf Park, and terminating near Black Butte and the Half Moon area in the south, near Highway 197 and the Big Timber Canyon.

The map identifies existing infrastructure including roads open to highway legal vehicles (shown in yellow/tan), trails open to foot and stock (shown with dashed lines), and private roads. Natural features depicted include multiple creeks (Dry Creek, Otter Creek, and others), lakes (Cascade Lake, Thunder Lake, Blue Lake), and significant elevation changes indicated by topographic contour lines. The map includes standard USDA disclaimers noting that it is intended for depicting physical features generally and may not be used to determine legal boundaries, ownership, or access restrictions, and users are advised to obtain appropriate permissions and motor vehicle use maps before accessing lands within the National Forest.
