About this file

This document is an amendment to Solicitation 1240LU24Q0051 for exterior painting and gutter replacement at the Beartooth Ranger Station in Red Lodge, MT. The purpose of the amendment is to provide photographs of the interior of the building and answer questions about moving furnishings. The period of performance is July 25, 2024 to September 30, 2024. The contractor is expected to move individual desks, decorations, smaller filing cabinets, and wall-mounted items upstairs, as well as potentially move or work around larger items like whiteboards and cabinets in the basement. The contractor should coordinate closely with the district to minimize disruption to their ongoing use of the office space. The estimated magnitude of the contract is between $25,000 - $100,000.

What furnishings are the contractor expected to move?

There are primarily individual desks, decorations, and smaller filing cabinets upstairs. There may be some papers/maps that need to be taken off the wall. There are some whiteboards, cork boards etc. on the walls currently. If the district doesn’t have them removed prior to the contractor starting work, the contractor will need to protect them, but I won’t expect the contractor to remove these larger items off the walls. I’ll let the district know to have most of that stuff done prior to the contractor starting the work, but they will be using that office space throughout the project, so I’m sure there will be things that get missed or forgotten. I’ll recommend to the district again to move it themselves prior, but I don’t think this would be out of the question for a contractor to move whatever doesn’t get done.

In the basement I don’t anticipate anything needed to be move outside the building, but sliding cabinets to the center of the room to have access to the walls will be likely. My thoughts are if the cabinets are too heavy to move, that should be the district’s responsibility to unpack them.

If they can’t be moved and the district doesn’t unpack them prior to the contractor starting, we will just paint around them. I’ll have to coordinate closely with the contractor to come up with a firm schedule to allow this, but I can’t imagine it should be a big issue. I will be available as well to help move the heavier items.
