About this file

This document contains questions and answers from a pre-bid site visit for the Woodland Park Septic Rehabilitation project on 8/5/2025. The document provides detailed clarifications on multiple technical aspects of the septic system installation, including:

Key technical specifications include pump requirements for two systems: System 1 requires a Liberty 1 HP sewage pump capable of 84 GPM at 27 Ft of head, while System 3 needs a Liberty 3/4 HP sewage pump capable of 66 GPM at 20 Ft of head. Additional details address site-specific installation requirements such as pipe depths (minimum 4 ft under roadways to prevent freezing), electrical line routing, control panel locations, and use of excavated materials. Bonding requirements are set at 20% of the bid price or $2,000,000, whichever is less. No county permits are required for electrical work or wastewater, though a licensed electrician must be used for electrical installations.

Question from Woodland Park Septic Rehabilitation Pre-Bid Site Visit (8/5/2025)

1) What is the preferred cover material for the infiltrators?

a) Excavated material from onsite will be used to cover the septic system. Topsoil will be kept separate and placed as final cover.

2) What is expected as a deliverable from the “Pump and Inspect Septic Tanks” line item?

a) An inspection report from a certified inspector is expected on the condition of the existing septic tanks.

3) Is the gas line near the oƯice propane or natural gas?

a) Natural gas

4) Which side of the oƯice (system 1) would you like the electrical line run?

a) The electrical line should be run around the backside of the building (west side)

5) Are electrical permits with the county required?

a) No, but you must use a licensed electrician to do the work.

6) What are the bonding requirements?

a) 20% of the bid price or $2,000,000 which ever is less (FAR 52.228-1 Pages 30-31)

7) Where should the control panels be located?

a) I said in the pre-bid site visit the control panels for the pumps should be located on a pedestal near the pump tanks but that was incorrect. They should be inside the respective buildings, in a location easy to access.

b) See Sanitary Sewerage 333110-6, page 115, of Project manual.

8) Are wastewater permits from the county (teller) required?

a) No

9) Can we use 2, 600-gallon pump tanks instead of 1 600 and 1 500?

a) Yes, this is acceptable

10) Can we move the STA for system 1 to behind the 5 Bay shop to avoid power and gas lines? If the drawing is accurate, it looks like we can maintain 25' from the waterline.

a) Let’s wait till we have all utilities located; future buildings planned for that location.

Bid plans as shown.

11) If we take down trees, do we need to haul them out?

a) They can be bucked and decked north of the oƯice.

12) Can we use excavated materials as bedding, or do we need to bring something in?

Preferred material?

a) See Earthwork 312250-4 for appropriate bedding material.

13) I normally put clean outs in valve boxes, but the drawings don't call that out, do you not want them?

a) Cleanout details are specified on page 11. Concrete pad with cast-iron lid. Threaded plug included.

14) In one section you call out sewer line depth at 2'6" to the top of the pipe and in another section, it shows 4'. Can you clarify?

a) Frost depth in Teller County is 30” ie min. 4ft under the roadway preferred to prevent freezing.

15) Are we replacing the existing tank baƯles or can we attach to the existing pipe just outside the tank?

a) I don’t believe the current tanks have T’s with filters so those will need to be added.

16) I'm being told those are low head pumps and will need a filter in the tank ahead of them. Does this sound accurate to you?

a) Filter shown at exit of septic tanks

17) “Preferred Sand” is specified, but this sand is basically unavailable. The availability of this sand has proven to be so restricted that the CDPHE has removed it from the 2025 OWTS regulation #43.

a) Bid what is in the plans, a mod will be made later if needed. I have found preferred sand in Denver.

18) There are no pump or distribution sizing data to confirm system requirements. There are no pump curve or system curve for either system.

See Sanitary Sewerage 333110-5 for pump and control box detail details.

a) System 1: Pump must be capable of 84 GPM at 27 Ft of head. Provide Liberty 1 HP sewage pump, model LE102A, or equal.

i) a. 2” NPT outlet

ii) b. 2” Solids Handling

b) System 3: Pump must be capable of 66GPM at 20 Ft of head. Provide Liberty 3/4 HP sewage pump, model LE70, or equal.

i) a. 2” NPT outlet

ii) b. 2” Solids Handling

19) Threaded unions are specified for disconnects in the discharge line of the pumps, yet these are not recommended disconnects.

a) 2” disconnect coupler is also acceptable.

20) No mention of vacuum breakers at high points in the pressure distribution lines.

a) Provide vacuum break at first inspection port of chamber system.

21) Do we need to cast the entire sewer line from the fire cache to the existing tank because of the waterline? Preferred method to case?

a) No incasement is necessary, located sewer line 5’ from water lines.

22) Do you want to insulate 2" line below the road in system 3 top help keep frost away?

a) See question 14, min cover required.
