ELEVEN MILE CANYON ROAD 96 BRIDGES AND GUARDRAIL REHABILITATION

QUESTION AND ANSWER DOCUMENT

Question #1: Current design uses older CDOT guardrail standards (8” block, 28” height, splices on the posts). Question if we would like to update the design to current CDOT standards (12” block, 31” height, splices in between posts). Existing bridge rail height is approximately 33”. Question if we want to taper up to that height from the approach rail/how we plan to accommodate that difference in height.

Answer #1: Per the drawing addendum - replace guardrail standard details with latest CDOT standard M-606-1 dated 03/05/20 and taper guardrail height to match existing bridge rail.

Question #2: Which portion of the concrete wall on bridge 96.6.8 is included in Item 552(22) – Repair Concrete Structure?

Answer #2: Item covers repair of holes in concrete wall created by removal of guardrail posts currently anchored in concrete retaining wall as shown on the drawings.

Question #3: Specifically which part of this (bridge railing) railing gets painted? How do you measure/quantify SF on something like this? Will we be paid full 750 sf on this bridge?

Answer #3: The W-beam bridge guardrails, I-beam bridge guardrail posts, and round metal pipe handrails are all included for repainting under optional item 536(02). This item is a Contract Quantity (“CQ” in schedule of items); according to Section 109 of the FP-14 specifications and Section 109 of the Forest Service Supplemental Specifications “The quantity to be paid is the quantity listed in the bid schedule. Contract quantities will be adjusted only when there are errors in the original design of 15% or more”. Thus, the contract includes payment for 750 SF at the unit bid price on each bridge to be painted unless the awardee can provide documentation justifying the actual amount of painting exceeds 750 SF by 15% or more.

Question #4: Can you clarify if the Key personnel are required for proposal submission? I see it in the evaluation requirements stated on page 41 of 43. But I don’t see it requested in the technical requirements on page 36.

Answer #4: Yes a list of key personnel with job titles and years of experience is required per page 41.

Question #5: The requirements on page 35 requires a SF1442. I only see an SF1449. Can you confirm that the requirements are to submit the SF1449 in lieu of the SF1442?

Answer #5: Please use the SF1449
