Burgess Road RFI#1 - Questions and Answers

1. Do you have any information on the pit where the gravel will be crushed? We won't be able to look at the aggregate size before bidding. Curious what the maximum size rock is. Also, could we set up the crusher in the area that has already been mined?

Response: The pit has been developed before and has some room for more development. For rock sizes, look at the supplemental specifications (Spec 703) for Grade F. A crusher can be set up in the area that is already mined however it is highly recommended prospective contractors use google earth and the plans to develop a pit development plan

2. For dust control would an alternative to magnesium chloride called Perma-Zyme soil stabilization work?

Response: We cannot determine if this is acceptable or not until we see more information on the product.

3. Is the government going to provide staking for the roadway?

Response: Yes. The government will stake the major work items.

4. Will there be shape files provided for machine grade control?

Response: No. Refer to details on the plans.

5. What are the testing methods for road moisture and density?

Response: Testing is not required for compaction on the roadway. Check plans and specs for testing requirements for testing requirements for the crushing at the pit.

6. What is the hand broadcast rate for seeding?

Response: Rate for hand broadcast seeing is 21lb/acre.

7. For the reflectors does it have a requirement for the backing on the reflector (metal or plastic)?

Response: Reflectors and object markers do not require the brown FS backing.

8. The company giving the quote for all of the signs had a question regarding a special provision to have Federal Brown as the back color (instead of seeing the silver color of the sign). Is this something that would be required?

Response: This only applies to the regulatory signs. The Object Markers and Delineators DO NOT need the federal brown background.

9. Please provide the worklists in a format for printing them out in 8.5 x 11.

Response: See attachment
