About this file

This document is an Amendment to a Solicitation for the USDA Forest Service (USFS) Intermountain Region, modifying Solicitation No. 1240LS25Q0053. The amendment extends the response deadline to 08/25/2025 at 10:00 AM MT and provides a questions and answers section about the project. The period of performance is 09/01/2025 to 08/31/2026.

The Q&A reveals this is a trail maintenance project involving 98.53 miles of trail clearing. Key details include: 100% logout work with light brush undergrowth, approximately 50% of trails cleared last year, work typically begins June 1, and the USFS completes about 5 miles per day on heavy downfall trails. Contractors must bring weed-free feed for stock animals due to drought conditions, and chainsaws are permitted on all trails. No trails are affected by the Monroe Canyon fire, and all trails should have been cleared within the past 3 years.

Q & A Q: The last few years the sow has mentioned brushing as part of the project, but the bid schedule shows mainly log out. What percentage of the project includes brushing work vs just log out?

A: 100 percent logout

Q: How heavy is the brush undergrowth on average?

A: Light

Q: Did all these included trails get cleared last year?

A: Approximately 50% were cleared last year

Q: The previous years’ award amount seems extremely low for that full bid schedule milage (98.53) to be completed so will there be trails that have several years of deadfall to be cleared?

A: All should have been cleared in the past 3 years.

Q: What has been the average beginning access date when the contractor has been able to start work without fighting snow drifts?

A: June 1.

Q: How long on average has the milage taken previous contractors to complete?

A: It takes the USFS approx. 5 miles/day on heavy downfall trails.

Q: Will grazing for stock animals be allowed or would we need to bring our own (weed free of course) feed?

A: Bring own weed free feed due to drought.

Q: Are chainsaws allowed on all trails or is there any primitive restrictions?

A: Chainsaws allowed on all trails.

Q: How many, if any of these trails are affected by the Monroe Canyon fire? Just trying to figure out the approximate workload of burned/downed timber.

A: None.
