1240LR22Q0156 Prefabricated 16X40 Steel Bridge
Question 1 - The plans are calling out for 12x4.25x7ga galvanized bridge decking material. Since the zinc requirement is the same for 12ga and 9ga as 7ga, can lighter gauge bridge decking material be used if it does not interfere with the Live Load (HL-93) or exceed the live load deflection (L/800)? If additional sacrificial steel is the consideration for little added service, can proven coatings be used on lighter gauge material? Such as polymeric paint or bituminous coatings? Also, are there any beam sizes?
Answer 1 - As far as the questions about the 7ga. decking and beam sizes, the vendor or their supplier needs to design and manufacture a bridge that meets both the geometric, design and load specifications (HL-93/l-800) as stated in the design note#1 on page 2. They need to submit design calculations and shop drawings for approval 2 week in advance of fabrication (design note #2) and provide load rating calculations as stated in design note #5. The other note of relevance is design note #3 which requires them to produce the shop drawing as there are several manufacturers that can produce acceptable bridges and we want the drawings for the actual bridge that is being delivered.
Question 2 - Can you clarify if there will be machinery at the delivery location that will be unloading the units or if we are to include the unloading of materials at your yard in our supply price please.
Answer 2 – Include pricing in quote for the unloading of materials at the yard (no machinery will be available)
Question 3 - Any guardrails or guardrail posts?
Answer 3 - The integral bridge rail is required but no additional approach rail or posts are included.
