After the holding tank is pumped all interior surfaces of the portable toilet that were contaminated by waste shall be disinfected with bleach and water or other products that meet federal, state, and local standards. Waste, effluent, and debris must not be washed or swept out of the toilet onto the ground. If waste or effluent does get on the ground the contractor must remove as much as possible from the ground and place waste and contaminated soil in a waterproof container. The contractor shall notify the COR of any possible ground contamination.
After the holding tank is pumped, thoroughly clean and disinfect all portions of the toilet, seat, toilet paper dispenser, door handle, and any other touchable surfaces with bleach and water or other products that meet federal, state, and local standards. All surfaces shall be dry before the contractor makes the portable toilet available for public use to prevent injuries and stains to users. If toilet paper was covered remove the cover, if it was removed return to the dispenser. Toilet paper shall not be contaminated at any point during the pumping/cleaning process. The contractor shall not leave the site until the toilet is available for use.
