STATEMENT OF WORK

The contractor shall determine the status of smooth goosefoot (Chenopodium subglabrum) occurrences on the Little Missouri National Grassland (LMNG) and Grand River National Grassland (GRNG) and write a final report summarizing field results. Field work is to begin July 15, 2024, and finish by September 30th 2024. Reporting is to finish by January 31, 2025.

LOCATIONS

1. Little Missouri National Grassland, McKenzie, Golden Valley, Billings, and Slope Counties, North Dakota.

(1,026,000 acres).

2. Grand River National Grassland, Perkins and Corson Counties, South Dakota. (160,000 acres).

GOVERNMENT-FURNISHED PROPERTY AND SERVICES

The Government will provide shapefile of known smooth goosefoot occurrences in the project area, AGOL access, and field forms. The Government will consider application for off-road vehicle use.

The Contractor must furnish all equipment, labor, materials (except government furnished items), transportation, lodging, supervision, and incidentals necessary to conduct the smooth goosefoot survey. If the contractor finds any Regional Forester Sensitive Species (RFSS) LMNG and GRNG plants, they shall document them (Appendix A).

The contractor shall attempt to re-locate the smooth goosefoot occurrences and document the number of stems. The survey must be conducted most intensively at known occurrences and areas of suitable habitat. A random meander survey technique (Nelson 1985) must be used, in which the contractor focuses search efforts in areas of highly suitable smooth goosefoot habitat. It is the contractor’s duty to determine survey timing and number of surveys required for a given locale. A minimum of one visit to each occurrence, and more may be necessary depending on the phenology of the smooth goosefoot within an occurrence. Surveys will cover areas identified on the enclosed maps. The contractor must also document both North Dakota and South Dakota noxious weeds (Appendix B), and invasive graminoids within or directly adjacent to the occurrences, particularly if there are threats to smooth goosefoot populations.
