DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Eight Mile Trail #654.02: From the Darrington Ranger District office, take the Mt. Loop Highway along the west side of the Sauk River.
Follow this road for approximately 3.3 miles. Clear Creek Campground should be on the left side and Forest Service road 2060 should be on the right. Turn right and follow Forest Service road 2060 for 8 miles to the trailhead located on the right.
Mt. Pugh: From the Darrington Ranger District office, drive Mt. Loop Highway 20 for 14 miles to Forest Service road 2095 on your left (east) and proceed for one mile. The trailhead is on the right and should be signed. Parking is limited and turning around can be difficult.
It is often better to park at the large pullout on the left at the switchback below the trailhead.
Weeden Creek: From the Verlot Public Service Center (11 miles east of Granite Falls, WA), travel east on Mt. Loop Highway 19.5 miles to Barlow Pass. Park here and proceed on foot past the gate on the Monte Cristo Road for a mile. The trailhead is on the right, just before the Sauk River crossing.
Necklace Valley: From Everett, WA drive east on U.S. Highway 2 toward Stevens Pass. After passing the Skykomish Ranger Station on the left, continue another 0.5 mile and turn right (south) onto Foss River Road (Forest Road 68).The clearly marked parking lot and trailhead will be on your left at 4.2 miles.
Iron Goat: Drive US HWY 2 eastbound towards Steven’s Pass. The Scenic Trailhead is located on the left at MP.58.3. The Wellington access road is located on the left at MP. 64.3.
Deception Creek: From Skykomish, WA drive US Highway 2 about 8 miles east to mile marker 56.6. Turn south onto Deception Creek Road (Forest Service Road #6088). Continue for one mile to Deception Creek Trailhead.
ACCESS #2: Head east on Hwy 2 toward Stevens Pass. Pass the town of Skykomish and the Skykomish Ranger Station east of town.
Watch for the Foss River Road FS 68, turn right. In 2.6 miles, cross under the railroad trestle and over a small bridge. In another mile will be a Y intersection; take a left here on FS 6830. The number is hard to see, but it will be on the right after you turn.
Follow 6830 for 7 miles. Park at the intersection of RD #6830, Trail #1058 (Tonga Ridge) and Trail #1059.1 (Deception Creek Cutoff). Drop down Tr. 1059.1 to the Deception Creek Trail. Continue upstream to the beginning of the work.
