Request for Information
SUPPLY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
WITH A WEB-BASED ORDERING SYSTEM
[Type here]
Background The Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has a Supply Management program located in the Office of Management, Administrative Service Division/Property Management Branch. The Supply Management Program consists of Specialty Supplies and Field Office Supplies for some field office employees and inspectors. Currently, Specialty Supplies are stored directly at the Materiel Management Service Center (MMSC), which is our departmental warehouse located at 6351 Ammendale Road, Beltsville, MD 20705. The office supplies come through the sub-contractor, Base Supply Center (BSC), located in various regions and shipped directly to our inspectors throughout the country, including Guam and Hawaii. The Supply Management Program also consists of storing and shipping accountable forms and non-monetary award items to our customers.
Some of the Specialty Supply items consist of specific hardhats, freezer wear, gloves, etc, along with general office supplies, forms and non-monetary award items such as caps, shirts and other novelties. See attached list of Specialty Supplies and a list of some of the office supplies offered. There are over 7,500 field accounts that rely on the ordering and shipping service. A high quantity of supplies and forms must be shipped out in a timely fashion in order for the inspectors and government employees to perform their daily assignments.
The objective of the FSIS Distribution mission is to provide an integrated pipeline that sustains our Field Inspectors around the country with innovative and tailored logistics services that are ever improving in terms of cost, timeliness, and relative value.
