Amendment 0001 – Questions and Answers from Site Visit tour on Tuesday, August 30, 2022
Q1.) The areas identified as no piling, What happens if a tree is felled into the 30’ equipment exclusion area around live pines?
A1.) The log needs to be fully suspended or left in place. You will be able to use pre-existing skid trails to skid the logs to landings.
Q2.) How do we present the proposal in reference to the value of timber compared to the cost to do the work?
A2.) You need to show what your logging costs and estimated delivered value are for the timber. This information will NOT be released and is needed by the Forest Service for subsidizing product removal. You also need to provide your price proposal for work needing to be performed per the solicitation, Schedule of Items and flat offer for timber.
Q3.) How high can we pile the piles?
A3.) Piles cannot be taller than 15’ but the can be as big around as needed.
Q4.) Does all of the trees need to have borax aplied to them?
A4.) All tree over three inch DBH wil be treated.
Q5.) What is the stump height?
A5.) 8” is the required stump height.
Q6.) What will we do with new dying of fading trees?
A6.) Those trees need to brought to the COR’s attention and they will be the one to agree to it being marked for cutting or not.
Q7.) Are all the ground hazards been identified?
A7.) That the building had been demolished and all material had been removed, but that does not mean that there could be objects that could cause damage to their equipment. We also explained at this time we do not have the blueprints of where water, power lines, and sewer lines are located. I stated we will go out and flag any water spigots and electrical lines above ground.
Q8.) Is there more contract time?
A8.) We looked at the time from October to December and determined that at the worst case that there would be
8 weeks to complete the work, which breaks down to 10 acres a week, or 2 acres per day. The consensus was there was plenty of time to complete the work with the allotted contract time.
