QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Who was the incumbent contractor for similar services? For what amount?
Contract, 12467019C0005, awarded Dec 2018 with Clifford Padgett 3056 French Santee Rd., Jamestown, SC 29453, for a Base Year of 652 trees for a NTE $15,000.
2. Update: A site visit can be scheduled prior to FEB 10, 2021.
3. Approximately what percentage of the RCW trees in the solicitation will be new (fresh) rakings?
For this year, approximately 5% will be new raking’s. In this year’s project the trees have been raked within the last 2-3 years. In the future, there may be more new raking’s due to the availability of the Burn Program to get into new areas within the forest.
4. What is the FS typical production in trees raked/man/day?
That depends on the crew size. The Forest Service employees use a crew of 3 people and they can typically rake 15-20 trees a day. That is within a 5-6 hour day.
5. Are there any specific compartment maps available for where the RCW trees are located? It would be useful to know how spread out they are for determining access and production levels (due to driving, hike-ins, etc.)
Generally, compartments are grouped by location, so if you are working in an area it will include all the compartments that are close by to that area. This way you will not be driving from one end of the forest to the other. This year there is approximately three packets. As you finish one packet and turn it in, you will then be given another packet. Work turned in will then be reviewed for compliance.
