Statement of Work Summary
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for repair and renovation work at the USDA Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, specifically addressing loading dock safety issues at the main building's small truck loading dock.
The scope of work comprises four primary tasks: (1) removal of an existing embedded 72-inch mechanical dock leveler and filling the pit with reinforced concrete; (2) replacement of 96 linear feet of exterior wall framing (track and metal studs) at 12 feet high; (3) installation of new aluminum siding over the rebuilt wall; and (4) removal and replacement of approximately 780 square feet of corrugated metal roofing. All work must comply with applicable building codes, OSHA safety standards, and manufacturer installation requirements. Working hours are restricted to 0730–1600, Monday through Friday, with facilities closed on weekends and federal holidays.
Technical requirements are detailed for each task. Dock leveler removal involves establishing safe work zones, disconnecting mechanical components, extracting the leveler using an on-site forklift, and concrete pit preparation including chipping deteriorated surfaces, drilling and epoxying rebar dowels, installing a reinforcement grid, and placing approximately 2 cubic yards of 4,000–5,000 PSI concrete. Wall framing replacement includes demolition, installation of new track and metal studs at 16-inch spacing, bracing and anchoring, and verification of structural soundness. Corrugated aluminum siding installation requires moisture barrier application (if needed), full panel installation across the 96 ft × 12 ft wall, trim and flashing installation, and weather-tight sealing. Roof replacement involves panel removal with structural inspection, installation of new corrugated metal panels with ridge caps and proper lap overlap, neoprene washer fasteners, and complete weather-sealing.
Deliverables include notification to the USDA ARS ERRC representative upon work completion, a final walk-through with the government representative before acceptance, and completion of a punch list before invoicing. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, safety equipment, and disposal services necessary to complete the project.
