About this file

This Statement of Work outlines the purchase and delivery of a Brabender Farinograph instrument for the USDA/ARS Grain Quality and Structure Research Unit located at 1515 College Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. The farinograph is a torque-measuring dough-testing device used to evaluate breeding lines from hard winter wheat breeders and develop new wheat varieties by measuring dough resistance to mixing and recording results on a computerized output chart.

The primary equipment to be procured includes a Brabender Farinograph with specified technical requirements: 115V (88-126V) main connection, stepless speed control (0-200 min⁻¹), 28 Nm maximum torque, electronic torque measuring system with 0-2000 FU measuring range, built-in industrial PC with MetaBridge software, 10.4-inch touch screen, and multiple interface options. Additional required components include a calibrated mixer measuring head type 50 for small sample quantities, BRABENDER AquaInject automatic water dosing unit, MetaBridge Correlation Extension for Farinograph, JULABO CORIO CD-200F refrigerated/heating circulator, Burette type 50, and one year of preventative maintenance. The instrument must produce results compliant with AACCI, ICC, and ISO standards and include one full-day on-site startup assistance and training. All deliverables including shipping costs must be included in the final quoted price, with delivery required within 60 days of award to the specified USDA/ARS location. All manufacturers' documentation, parts, and accessories must accompany the equipment upon delivery.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Background A new farinograph instrument is needed to replace an older model that is no longer supported by the manufacturer. The old Farinograph has been used for 15+ years and the accuracy of this old Farinograph is in question, a new updated instrument is needed. If it becomes inoperable, we will be unable to perform critical evaluation required to fulfill an objective in our project plan.

Objectives Purchase of a Brabender Farinograph for the Grain Quality and Structure Research Unit to be installed in building 1 at CGAHR located at 1515 College Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.

Scope Contractor will provide a Brabender Farinograph

Tasks or Requirements Farinograph The farinograph is a physical dough-testing instrument used in the evaluation of breeding lines from public hard winter wheat breeders and stakeholders for effectively developing new hard winter wheat varieties. It is a torque-measuring device, recording dough mixer. The dough is subjected to prolonged mixing at a constant temperature, the resistance of the dough to mixing is recorded as a curve on a computerized output chart.
