About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for a corn planting solicitation issued by the ARU (Agricultural Research Unit).
The solicitation involves planting approximately 75.4 acres of corn across 12 fields (or 6 operationally distinct fields separated by grass waterways). The government will prepare all fields using a Kuhn Disc Harrow followed by a John Deere Field Cultivator, with seed corn provided in bags by the government. The contractor will receive notice to begin planting within a 4-business-day window, with the ARU Farm Manager or designee coordinating at least 48 hours in advance and remaining on-site to provide direction on planting locations. Contractors must demonstrate prior corn planting experience through references, prior invoices, or written statements detailing equipment used, acreage planted, and general location. Insurance requirements will be specified in the contract, with the contractor typically responsible for coverage of all tasks, equipment, and personnel. The seed corn will be provided in bags rather than bulk form.

2. How many separate fields or plots are involved?
a. 12 fields on paper / 6 fields that are not connected or separated by more than a grass waterway.
3. Will the ARU Farm Manager be on-site to direct the contractor on planting locations?
a. Farm Manager or designee will be available to provide direction.
4. How far in advance will the contractor typically receive notice to begin planting within the

a. Fields will be prepped by government personnel with Kuhn Disc Harrow followed by (hopefully) a John Deere Field Cultivator.
8. Additionally, are you expecting the acreage to be planted using a no-till method, or will the fields require conventional cultivation prior to planting?
a. See #7 above
9. Will the seed corn be provided in bags or bulk
