Mini Spray Dryer (BRAND NAME OR EQUAL)

REQUISITION INFORMATION

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Vendor must have a current NDAA Section 889 attestation on file.

2. Equipment must be new, unused, and the manufacturer's current production model.

3. Equipment must meet all specified salient characteristics listed below.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

The USDA-ARS Eastern Regional Research Center requires one (1) Mini Spray Dryer System for food and agricultural research applications. Brand name or equal: Buchi Mini Spray Dryer S-300 Advanced. Include all accessories except Inert Loop S-395. Include shipping costs to the location.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

The following salient characteristics must be met by any offered equipment:

Design and Operational Requirements:

o Capable of drying aqueous solutions, including milk, with an option to upgrade in the future for safely drying organic solvent solutions o Dehumidifier configuration for continuous supply of dry air to improve performance o Borosilicate glassware for superior heat resistance and resistance to thermal shock, and for easy viewing of entire drying process o Cyclone-based collection for separating dried powder from exhaust air to increase the efficiency and reliability of the drying process o Product particle size range between 1 to 60 microns depending on the nozzle technology utilized o Two-fluid, stainless steel, 0.7 mm nozzle for use with heavy suspensions or viscous solutions o Inlet temperature up to 220°C; outlet temperature can be set between 40- 100°C o Maximum evaporation capacity of 1L water per hour o Temperature probes for inlet, outlet and within the collection vessel o Sample feed pump rate range between 0.1 to 30 mL/min o Sample gas feed rate range between 80-1800 L/hr @ 7bar o Product yields up to 70% o Touchscreen interface and the ability to save and recall drying methods for easy set up and duplication of drying runs o Ability for automated spray drying workflow to improve process efficiency o Ability to generate reports with parameter graphs o Onsite installation and training for spray dryer
