About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to an extruder and mixing equipment. The first Q&A discusses the extruder configuration, indicating it will be primarily used for meat analogs with a slit die. The desired equipment includes an extruder with a feeder, with flexibility to purchase additional dies and attachments for future projects. A pelletizer is not a requirement but would be accepted if offered at no additional cost.

The second section contains a detailed questionnaire about material characteristics and mixing equipment specifications. The response notes that the feed will likely consist of dry materials with wet feed added through a secondary port. The form allows for detailed technical specifications about material properties, equipment construction, voltage requirements, loading methods, and potential unique operational challenges, though most fields are left blank in this document.

Q&A

Question – What is required at the end of the extruder. Typically, this is configured either with a one- or two-hole heated die or with a hot die face cutter (also known as a food pelletizer).

Answer – The extruder will be used for more than just one project. The starting configuration should be geared toward meat analogs, so some type of a slit die. A pelletizer would be a secondary piece of equipment that was not part of the requirement (a feeder is part of the requirement though), but if a vendor wants to include a pelletizer at no cost that is fine. The primary goal here is to get a good quality extruder (with a feeder) that if needed we can purchase different dies and attachments as needed for projects as they arise.

Answer – The feed will likely be dry materials with wet feed added as needed in a secondary port.
