About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the replacement of a main air compressor at the USDA Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. The project involves removing an antiquated Gardner Denver air compressor and installing a new oil-free two-stage rotary screw compressor with specific technical specifications. The new compressor must be a Gardner Denver brand or equal, rated at minimum 40HP (30kW) with at least 192 CFM @ 125 PSIG, 460V/3PH/60Hz operation, water-cooled heat exchanger, wye-delta reduced voltage starter, and full synthetic oil with 8000-hour lifetime comparable to AEON 9000SP. The unit must feature zero contamination risk, ODP high efficiency motor, and an 80°C mixing valve temperature with water temperature regulator, water shutoff valve, and moisture separator.

The contractor is responsible for removing and properly disposing of the existing compressor, providing all installation materials, completing discharge and cooling water piping tie-ins with flow rate verification, connecting electrical systems to verify proper voltage and amperage, testing the unit for proper operation, providing onsite end-user training, delivering user manuals and warranty registration, and ensuring Buy American Act compliance. The contractor must notify the USDA ARS ERRC representative upon work completion before invoicing. No specific contract vehicle, set-aside, response deadline, or award date is specified in this SOW document.

ERRC Upgrade and modernize main HP Air Compressor.

2.0 Background

The Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) is one of four Regional Research Centers of the Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. The ERRC is home to the nation’s leading scientists and engineers who solve problems facing the U.S. today and tomorrow with fundamental, applied, and developmental research on agricultural commodities. Most of this research is conducted in the main building within two laboratory wings. The original building was constructed in 1940. Due to continuous upgrades and renovations, ERRC is very modern with respect to laboratory design and system condition.
