About this file

This document is a Specification Sheet detailing the requirements for a Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) Mass Spectrometer (MS) System for the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC). The ERRC has a requirement to replace their obsolete MALDI MS system, which is critical for the analysis of proteins and oligosaccharides in the center's research.

The technical requirements include a high repetition rate Nd:YAG 355nm laser optical system, XY stages with a sample plate holder, a high resolution CCD camera, and control electronics. The deliverables include the MALDI MS system, an Advanced Imaging Starter Kit, and installation support and training. The estimated period of performance is September 12, 2024 to January 11, 2025. The related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number 12305B24Q0204, is a Total Small Business set-aside with a NAICS code of 334516 and a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Firms must submit documentation showing technical capability, a firm fixed price quote, and a Unique Entity ID to be considered for award on a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable basis.

SPECIFICATION SHEET

Scope of work

USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC), has a requirement for a Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) Mass Spectrometer (MS) system. The current system is obsolete and needs to be replaced. The instrument serves the center by enabling analysis of proteins and oligosaccharides among other projects which are critical to the research of the scientists at the center. The new MALDI Source will enable us to continue to do MALDI based research, while allowing us to utilize our current systems for analyzing the data.

Technical requirements:

Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) Mass Spectrometer (MS) System (AP/MALDI(ng) UHR for Thermo IonMax Instruments - Orbitrap Velos, Orbitrap Velos Pro, Orbitrap Exactive, and Orbitrap Elite Mass Spectrometers).

Specifications:

• One all-solid-state high rep rate (up to 10 kHz) Nd: YAG 355nm laser optical system for laser beam focusing including attenuator, aspheric lens and external adjustment of laser spot position.
