Questions and Answers #1
1. I see that the specs read, 80 units total with 10 individual housings. To clarify, you are seeking 80 cages with 10-sub unit housings per cage? (i.e. 800 housings through 80 units?)
ANSWER: We require 80 individual cages. These cages should be arranged in sets of 10, so 8 mobile units with 10 cages each.
1. Are there specific volume related specs on the adjustable drinker size? or will any a typical 20" container suffice?
ANSWER: Waterer type capable of switching between turkey watering cups and nipple lines for broilers. Height adjustable watering system can be adjusted down to broiler heights and all the way up to adult turkey height.
1. Are there specs on the feeders, or will an industry standard feeder per housing suffice?
ANSWER: Individual pan feeders (industry standard size is fine) in front of each cage that can be taken off and weighed with or without feed. Stainless steel feeders to mount on the front of the cage and still allow an egg to roll out beneath the feeder (about 2 3/4" to 3" gap).
1. What are the sizing specifications of each chicken and/or turkey unit? I assume the chicken size is obsolete and we ultimately need to factor turkey size. Are there specifics here? Or should I assume industry standard for turkeys?
ANSWER: Ideal cage size is 29"Tall (back height) and 32"Tall (front height) x 22"Wide x 32"Deep. Minimum square footage for each cage is 4.5 sqft.
1. Is this something you already have, and could share a photo?
ANSWER: No
1. Is there a preferred configuration if the ten cages per unit? Two high x 5 wide?
ANSWER: Two high and 5 wide would be preferred.
1. Is there a preferred grid pattern/spacing for the floor?
ANSWER: Rooster slat cage bottom preferred.
1. What is the desired/required interior height of each cage? 2 ANSWER: Desired 9” in the back and 32” in the front (due to sloped floor).
1. What are the desired dimensions of the cage floor to achieve 4.5 square feet total area? ANSWER: 22”x32” preferred (4.5 sqft is the minimum).
1. What are the dimensions of the autoclave these would go into?
ANSWER: Autoclave can accommodate 32”x32” cage pieces.
1. Do the feeders need to be removable?
ANSWER: Yes
1. Does each cage need a solid bottom, or is a wire bottom preferred?
ANSWER: Rooster slat cage bottom preferred.
1. Does each cage need a removable waste pan?
ANSWER: Yes
1. Is there a preferred door size and style on the cage front?
ANSWER: Hinged to swing open like a room door, or hinged across the top or bottom. Swing into cage to open and hinge at the top. Bifold doors preferred.
1. Are the adjustable drinkers connected to a pressurized water system?
ANSWER: Yes
