1. Question: Response to the inquiry for FM Global under Specification 1.2.1.2 is called out. We are assuming this is Section 07 41 13, Wind Uplift Resistance where it states, “Roof system and attachments must resist the wind loads as determined by ASCE 7, in pounds per square foot. Metal roof panels and component materials must also comply with the requirements in FM 4471 as part of a panel roofing system as listed in Factory Mutual Guide (FMG) "Approval Guide" for class 1 or noncombustible construction, as applicable. Identify all materials with FMG markings.”
Per this section, the FM reference is only a guideline and not a certification for an insured assembly. Please clarify the intent. It would appear that an appropriate regional and site specific wind uplift calculation is what is being required.
Answer: An appropriate regional and site specific wind uplift calculation is required.
2. Question: The response to the list question states, “FM Global is not required if manufacturer’s No Dollar limit twenty-year warranty is provided for the roofing system.”
This statement will require a complete change from the specified exposed fastener Metal Sales PBR panel system to a more robust hidden fastener standing seam panel system to procure a weather tight warranty.
Answer: The government wants the 20-year weather-tightness warranty with the hidden fastener standing seam panel system. See provided revised roofing specifications.

1. Question: Are you expecting the interior of the current to be finished as part of this contract?
Answer: No.
2. Question: Is the insulation being replaced for the whole attic area or just where the skylights are currently located?
Answer: The entire attic area.
3. Question: Does the roofing material fasten to directly to the steel framing or to wood attached to the steel framing?
Answer: Existing substrate is unknown. Assume roofing material fastening directly to steel framing. If the condition is different once the substrate is known, a modification to address the difference will be completed.

1. Question: Making the contractor actually perform a 10 year workmanship warranty seems a little excessive for the contract especially sink you have a 45 material warranty. is there any possible way that this can be reduced to 1-2 years?
Answer: No, we would prefer to remain with the 10-year workmanship warranty.
