2. The following are the Q&A for this project:

Q1: Is cutting and leaving the stump the only method for this project that will be accepted?

A1: Cutting and leaving the stump is the only method accepted.

Q2: Can a forestry mulching machine be utilized for this project?

A2: It depends on the size of the equipment and skill of operator. But could be used on the thinning every third row portion of the SOW. The forestry mulching machine is not the best suited equipment to do the crop tree release work since that involves cutting an area 5 foot radius from specific trees.

Q3: Do payroll records have to be submitted with invoices?

A3: Payroll records must be kept by the contractor and provided to NRCS on request.

Q4: If undesirable species that were over 5 inches in size, do they need to be cut?

A4: No, this is a crop tree release. It does not include any undesirable or invasive plant work to be performed.

Q5: Will you be sending a confirmation that the quote was received by email to the contractors?

A5: Yes, we will send a confirmation that the quote was received if it is requested by the contractor with the quote submittal.

Q6: Concerning 3. Felling Specifications of the Material Specification 403- Forest Stand Improvement, do the trees have to be laid down on the ground?

A6: Referred to number 2 which reads: Trees required to be cut shall be completely severed from the stump and lie flat on the ground. No tops shall be left hanging in standing trees.

Q7: At the Klope WRP site, was the basal area amount to be removed determined by a prism? If so what size?

A7: Yes, according to the Kentucky Division of Forestry, the basal area to be removed was determined with a prism with a 5 factor on the majority of the sites. A 10-factor prism was used on the lesser thick stuff that is not as old.
