1. Type 4 Pathological System with a 2 second Retention Secondary Chamber including ACS Port injection System Model AP-50. (Rated capacity of 250 lb./hr. Type 4 Pathological Waste - Human and animal remains, consisting of carcasses, organs and solid organic wastes from hospitals, laboratories, abattoirs, animal pounds, and similar sources, consisting of up to 85% moisture, 5% incombustible solids, and having a heating value of 1000 B.T.U. per pound as fired).
2. Doors:
1. The primary combustion chamber shall be equipped with an access door. The primary combustion chamber shall have an access door located at the ash end of the incinerator. This refractory lined door shall provide access to the interior for cleaning, inspection, or repairs. Smoke or gases shall not be emitted from the closed doors at any time. The primary chamber access door shall have a minimum clear opening 63” wide x 63” high.
2. The primary chamber access door shall be swung on hinges (minimum of two). A cam lock type handle to properly secure and tighten ash door gasket to main chamber of incinerator shall be provided. A view port shall be provided with Pyrex glass to view operation of the primary chamber. Doors will be provided with same refractory and insulation as chamber walls.
3. Primary and Secondary Combustion Chambers:
The primary chamber shall be of adequate size to accommodate an entire large animal at the rated hourly combustion rate. The minimum primary chamber interior volume shall be 195 cubic feet. Total heat release in refuse chamber shall not exceed 20,000 Btu’s per cubic foot of chamber volume. The primary chamber shall have no grates. Hearth area in primary combustion chamber shall be a minimum of 47 square feet. Underfire air orifices will be permitted provided blower pressure and location of orifices are such that ash residue shall not accumulate, and waste material cannot be lodged in areas where it will not be burned. Hearth area shall be flat with primary step construction. All openings in hearth area shall be designed to provide zero leakage of fatty liquids.
2. The secondary chamber shall be designed of adequate size to consume partially oxidized gases and particles entering from the primary chamber. The minimum secondary chamber interior volume shall be 80 cubic feet for a 2 second retention time.
4. Automatic Horizontal Loader:
1. The feedram shall be constructed with minimum ¼ inch hot rolled steel plate. The hopper shall have a minimum volume of one-half (1/2) cubic yard(s)
2. The hopper load opening shall be 36 inches wide by 24 inches long. The charge door shall have an opening 24 inches wide by 24 inches high and shall be a hydraulically driven guillotine type, fabricated from ¼” HR carbon steel plate. It shall be lined with 2 inch 1900°F. insulation and 4 inch castable refractory lining rated for continuous 2800°F. service and supported by type 304-SS vee anchors.
5. Refractory and Insulation:
1. The primary and secondary combustion chamber shall be constructed of castable refractory with a minimum service temperature rating of 2800° F, ACS LCAST or equal. Refractory material shall be secured by stainless steel anchors. Anchors shall be suitably placed to permit the normal movement of the refractory. The walls in the primary chamber shall be at least 6 inches thick. The walls in the secondary chamber shall be at least 6 inches thick.
2. Anchors shall be of Type 310 stainless, V-type, and spaced at no greater than 12” centers.
3. The primary hearth shall be 2800° F, ACS LCAST or equal, dense castable refractory 4” minimum thickness.
4. The port air injector shall be lined with a minimum of 6 inches of high-heat duty refractory. The injector shall be monolithically cast of castable refractory. The castable refractory shall be a fireclay based, low iron, low cement, castable refractory with a minimum service temperature rating of 2,800 degrees F, ACSLCAST or approved equal.
5. Castable refractory for both chambers shall be monolithically cast. The casting material shall be vibrated per recommendation of the refractory manufacturer’s specifications.
6. The refractory in the primary and secondary chambers shall be backed by a minimum of 2” of lightweight mineral wool block insulation with a minimum service temperature rating of 1900 degree F. Insulation shall meet or exceed requirements of ASTM C-182, with density of 16 to 20 lbs./cubic feet and “K” factor of 0.6 at 800 degrees F.
6. Emissions:
1. Stack emission shall meet the requirements of Idaho Environmental Protection Agency Regulations.
2. Visible emission shall not exceed one on the Ringelmann chart, except for not more than three (3) cumulative minutes during any hour of incinerator operation when emissions shall not exceed two (2) on the Ringelmann chart, as published by the United States Bureau of Mines.
3. During routine operations the emission of particles larger than 60 microns shall not occur.
4. The particulate matter in the stack gases shall not exceed .08 gr/dscf, as measured in the stack by a continuous opacity monitor.
5. The total emissions of particulate matter shall also not exceed the pollutant mass rate requirements established by Idaho Environmental Protection Agency Regulations.
7. Residue:
The residue after incineration shall be less than 10 percent of the initial input weight. This excludes non-combustibles.
8. Auxiliary Fuel:
The incinerator will use natural gas as auxiliary fuel. The unit shall be equipped with regulator(s) as required for proper operation of burners and gas trains at their designed gas pressures.
9. Consumption:
Once operating temperatures have been attained, the control system shall automatically maintain proper interior temperatures. The primary chamber shall cycle high-low to maintain the temperature. The secondary chamber shall also have a fully modulating fuel control depending on the temperature of that chamber.
10. Installation is required for this equipment. Space is available at location for crane and equipment should it be needed to offload and bring into the building. Gas and electrical set ups are already set up in the building for installation.
