About this file
This is a project specification document for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for contract 12-0R9704, which involves slab replacement, RHMA (Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt) paving, and modifications to signal and lighting systems. The project encompasses concrete pavement removal and replacement, application of rubberized hot mix asphalt surfacing, and upgrades to traffic control and illumination infrastructure. The scope of work includes preparation of existing surfaces, installation of new materials to specified standards, and coordination of electrical systems modifications. The document outlines technical requirements, material specifications, and construction standards that contractors must adhere to throughout project execution. Specific details regarding project timeline, bid submission dates, site visit schedules, and pre-bid meetings are contained within the specification sections, along with contract award and completion dates.
The project is funded through Caltrans' capital improvement program with specific allocation for roadway rehabilitation and safety enhancement initiatives. Pricing for the project will be determined through competitive bidding, with contractors required to submit cost proposals based on detailed unit prices and labor rates for the specified work items. The document establishes performance standards and quality assurance requirements that bidders must meet, including material testing, workmanship standards, and compliance with California Department of Transportation specifications. Contractors should review all technical specifications, project drawings, and site conditions prior to bid submission to ensure accurate cost estimates and feasibility assessments.
