About this file
This is a Special Notice for a sole source firm-fixed price contract issued by the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station for an IRGA and Biomet system to support a long-term environmental research study. The anticipated contract value is $69,957.00, with an estimated delivery of 30 days from award issuance, and a closing date of December 14, 2025. The equipment will be used by the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center to monitor carbon and water fluxes in a prescribed fire research study in North Carolina's Piedmont region.
The technical requirements specify detailed specifications for a LI-COR IRGA (Carbon analyzer) with precise CO2 and H2O measurement capabilities, and a comprehensive Biomet Package including multiple data acquisition and environmental monitoring components such as temperature and radiation sensors, soil moisture probes, rain gauges, and associated mounting hardware. Interested contractors must submit responses by the closing date, including business details, CAGE code, small business status (if applicable), and a statement of capability. The procurement will use NAICS code 334519 with a size standard of 600 employees, and responses should be submitted via email to specified USDA contacts.

The anticipated delivery date is 30 days from award issuance.
Estimated Contract Value: $69,957.00
The USDA Forest Service Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center is conducting a long-term study on the effects of prescribed fires on water quantity and quality and carbon in the Piedmont of North Carolina. The purchase of IRGA and Biomet system are essential for monitoring carbon and water fluxes in our long-term study. This will allow for accurate data collection for our study on the effects of prescribed fires on carbon losses. This investment supports the Threat Center's commitment to advancing prescribed fire research and management practices, and natural resource protection.
