THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE request for information (RFI) and is not a request for proposals (RFP). The government will not award a contract on the basis of this notice, or otherwise pay for information solicited by it. Proprietary information should be clearly marked. The requested information is for planning and market research purposes only and will not be publicly released. In accordance with FAR 15.201(E), responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Feedback is encouraged and appreciated. Since the current capabilities must be confirmed, all eligible large and small businesses are encouraged to respond. Respondents WILL NOT be notified of the results of this sources sought survey. If and when a solicitation is issued, it will be posted on www.fedbizops.gov. It is the respondent's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of any synopsis or solicitation.

BACKGROUND:

The US Department of Justice, Civil Division (“the Division”) currently owns four MicroBoard MX-1 disk publishers with four licenses of PrintWrite2, which are currently unable to burn files directly from network shares. The Division is able to add the files to the burn list (indicating permissions seem to be acceptable); however, when the job is sent to the publisher, the software is unable to find the files.

Microboard support advised the Division that PrintWrite2 is not designed to support network shares and that they cannot supply assistance with this matter; however, they are aware of other users being able to use network shares without any issues.

The Division has authorization from Microboards to modify PrintWrite2 to make it work in the network environment and understands that such changes may make it difficult for Microboard to provide technical support in the future; however, the Division’s priority is the ability to burn files from a network share.

This RFI seeks information from Respondents to provide solutions to either modify PrintWrite2 to work in an enterprise environment, or to recommend a software package that can work in an enterprise environment.

In summary, the recommendations being sought are as follows:

If the respondent's recommendation is to modify or reconfigure PrintWrite2, it shall:

· Enable PrintWrite2 to work properly with network shares in the Civil Division’s network.

· Major changes to the Divisions system to accommodate this product are not permitted. (Software must be made to work in the Divisions current environment)

If the respondent's recommendation is to provide new software, it shall:

· Allow for the publishing of DVDs using MicroBoard MX-1 publishers.

· Allow for the burning of data.

· Allow for the designing, and printing, of disks, via the MX1’s inkjet printer.

· Be designed for an enterprise environment.

· Allows data to be burned from network shares. (Data should not need to be copied locally by the user, but buffering by the software is allowed.)

· And shall either:

· Operate in a server/client relationship where the machine attached to publisher is running the server software on Windows Server 2012 R2. (Hardware and OS will be provided.) Client software shall be used by 2,400 users.

· Allow for the use of Microsoft’s RemoteApp. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755055.aspx)

· Allow for at least two concurrent network user sessions. (Either method above.)

· Software can be either commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or a custom-made solution.

Interested parties responding to this sources sought request shall also submit the following information at a minimum:

(1) Company name and mailing address. (2) Organizational point of contact to include name, telephone number and e-mail address. (3) DUNS Number and Cage Code. (4) Business size. (5) Title your submission with the wording “MicroBoard MX-1 publishers."

QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES REGARDING THIS NOTICE MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 6:00 PM (ET) ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 05, 2014, VIA EMAIL TO: bonita.lucas@usdoj.gov.
