INTRODUCTION AND PROGRAM HISTORY

EASA is an outreach and treatment program for young people who have experienced their first episode of psychosis within the last year or whose symptoms are consistent with psychosis risk syndrome, and whose symptoms are not caused by a medical condition or substance abuse.

EASA was formed in Oregon in 2001 as the Early Assessment and Support Team (EAST) in the Salem area.

Currently, Multnomah EASA partners with the EASA Center for Excellence to provide evidence-based and community-based intensive outpatient service regardless of ability to pay.

GOALS, VALUES AND OTHER IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

The EASA program aims to provide strengths-focused, evidence-based support to teens and young adults experiencing the early signs of psychosis. The goal is to prevent the long-term disability associated with

Description schizophrenia and related conditions. The mission of EASA is to keep young people with the early signs of psychosis on their typical life paths, by:

Fostering self sufficiency by supporting vocational and educational goals Building community awareness Increasing skills for management of symptoms through traditional and nontraditional approaches Increasing social, vocational and family supports and Offering easily accessible, effective treatment and support through a network of trained community members and highly skilled clinicians using the most current evidence-based practices

EASA, along with the larger Multnomah County Behavioral Health Division, values equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness. The County expects the contractor to incorporate social equity innovation and anti-racist practices into their service delivery.

TARGET POPULATION SERVED

Multnomah EASA serves young people ages 12 to 27 who reside in Multnomah County, who have experienced their first episode of psychosis within the last year or who have symptoms consistent with psychosis risk syndrome and whose symptoms are not caused by a medical condition or substance abuse.
