About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a service and maintenance agreement for a Leica BOND RXm Processing Module and an Aperio Versa Microscope System located at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). The SOW outlines the requirement for a one-year base period with two one-year option periods to provide preventative maintenance, technical support, on-site service, and manufacturer replacement parts for the covered equipment. The services must be performed by OEM-trained and certified engineers. NCATS will coordinate the service visits and provide access to the equipment. The associated federal contract opportunity is a non-competitive, brand-name solicitation issued by the National Institute on Drug Abuse on behalf of NCATS. Quotes are due by 12:00 PM ET on 08/19/2024, and the anticipated award is a firm-fixed price purchase order.

Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs

STATEMENT OF WORK (SERVICES)

(SOW)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Title of Project:

Service/maintenance agreement for Leica BOND RXm & Aperio Versa Microscope Systems in the 3DTBP lab at

NCATS.

Statement of Need and Purpose:

The 3DTBP Group at NCATS need a service/maintenance agreement for the following systems: BOND RXm Processing Module (SN#M494014) & the Aperio Versa Microscope (SN#500058/12112525/50058). This request is for a service contract to service these important systems and ensure that they are always operational. Parts and accessory items must be compatible with this existing equipment.

Background Information and Objective:

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability, conducting, supporting and making medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives.

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which mission it is to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions.

The NCATS Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC) is tasked with identifying and developing novel small molecule leads against a wide spectrum of human disease targets, which it accomplishes by screening thousands of small molecules in collaboration with both intra-and extramural researchers. In pursuit of this goal, the Center has a strong internal transdisciplinary team of scientists who continually discover novel small molecules and develop novel disease models for application against a wide range of human diseases.

As such, discovering probe molecules and developing human disease models that could serve as starting points for therapeutics is of great interest within NCATS. NCATS started several projects developing tissues of human disease models using 3D bioprinting technology. As a tool for validation of 3D microstructure, a BOND RXm Processing Module (S/N M494014) has been installed at 9800 medical center dr. Rockville, MD 20850. The BOND RXm processing module has provided automated immunohistochemistry process of bioprinted tissues. The services requested here are fee for service testing that will provide insight on efficacy across many types of engineered tissues and will help progress and provide critical scientific guidance on projects that NCATS has been working on for many years.

Period of Performance:

Period of performance(PoP) will commence once the award is made and will extend for a period of 12 months, effective upon date of PO award acceptance by vendor. Estimated PoP as follows:

- Base Year (8/19/24 – 8/18/25)

- Option Year 1 (8/19/25 – 8/18/26)

- Option Year 2 (8/19/26 – 8/18/27)
