NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTIONS

Respondents’ proposals should consider and address the impact of any proposed use of the property, including without limitation, hours of operation, extent to which the public would be invited onsite, site lighting, noise, traffic, parking and pedestrian safety and circulation, on the surrounding areas, and in particular, on the adjacent residential neighborhoods and roadways.

Please note that commercial greenhouses and commercial nurseries (involving the retail sale of flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants from buildings or structures on the premises, rather than exclusively from the ground) and commercial pig farms must be approved via special permit by the Town Plan & Zoning Commission and are not as-of-right farming activities. Respondents may be required to share a common parking area with other selected Respondents.

SUGGESTED MINIMUM PRICE PER ACRE

The Town has suggested that potential lessees consider a mandatory minimum payment of $50/acre for agricultural farmland. It is understood that, depending on the crop(s) to be grown and market conditions, the proposed per acre price could be either higher or lower.
