About this file

The document is a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources of The Bahamas, seeking a contractor to install and maintain signage and demarcation buoys at four marine reserves: No Name Cay Marine Reserve (Abaco), Crab Cay Marine Reserve (Abaco), South Berry Islands Marine Reserve, and Jewfish Cay Marine Reserve (Exuma). The project requires approximately 10 buoys per site, which must be visible day and night, placed along protected area boundaries, and comply with maritime safety standards. The contract term is one calendar year from the installation date, during which the contractor will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, repairing, and replacing buoys as needed, with all repair instances to be reported to the Department of Marine Resources.

The RFP stipulates that the selected contractor must secure all necessary government approvals and permits in compliance with Bahamian laws and policies. The installation procedures must minimize environmental impacts, and the materials used must be durable enough to withstand expected weather and sea conditions. Proposals should be submitted via the Government of The Bahamas e-procurement portal (https://mofvendors.gov.bs/) and copied to lestergittens@bahamas.gov.bs. GPS-mapped boundaries for each marine reserve are provided in the document, showing precise geographical coordinates that define the protected areas.
