1.1. PROJECT REQUEST

Department (DFD), requests proposals from qualified Respondents to render certain technical or professional services ("Services") as set forth in this RFP to provide firefighting hose line, inspection and repair services.
1.2. BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION OF ENVIRONMENT
The Detroit Fire Department Fire Operations Division provides 24/7 emergency response services to protect local lives and property. Operating out of nearly 40 firehouses strategically located throughout the city, over 1,000 sworn firefighters respond to an average of 30,000 fires per year. The department recently elevated its national ISO preparedness rating from Class 4 to Class 2, successfully lowering homeowner insurance rates for Detroit taxpayers.
The DFD has achieved national recognition for its firefighting techniques, and hose line is a critical component in those techniques.
1.3. AWARD CLAUSE INCLUDING RENEWAL OPTIONS
If a contract is awarded as a result of this RFP, it will be a City of Detroit Professional Services
Contract (Attachment E). The term of the contract will be for two (2) years. Any renewal option exercised under this contract is effective only after the approval of the Detroit City Council and signed by the Chief Procurement Officer. The City anticipates one or multiple awards as a result of the RFP.
