PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose: The purpose of this acquisition is to procure Brand Name only of the Pala single cell dispenser to sort target cells and dispense single cells into a 96-well plate for growing and analyzing fluorescently labeled as well as unlabeled live cell clones during, which is highly related to stem cell research.
2. Background Information and Objective: The NIH Stem Cell Unit (SCU) was established to characterize human pluripotent stem cells and currently provide collaborative services to researchers. As part of our mission, we routinely perform CRISPR/cas9-based genome manipulation to generate genome-modified human pluripotent stem cell lines. To screen candidate cells efficiently, the single cell dispenser is an essential tool. Our current single cell dispenser has only one laser. Also, the current equipment is being outdated with no further technical assistance available from the manufacturer. We wish to replace it with a newer model which has two laser capability, is able to input a minimum of 100 cells.
