About this file
This is a Drug-Free Workplace Certification Form required by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners for the Tree Replanting of Scenic Roads and Miscellaneous Areas contract opportunity in Florida, as mandated by Florida Statute 287.087. Contractors bidding on this one-year tree maintenance and planting project, estimated at $935,275.00, must complete and sign this form as part of their proposal submission. The form requires vendors to certify compliance with six key workplace safety requirements, including publishing statements prohibiting unlawful controlled substance manufacturing, distribution, possession, or use in the workplace; informing employees of drug abuse dangers and available assistance programs; distributing the prohibition statement to all employees engaged in providing the contracted services; notifying employees that compliance with the drug-free workplace policy is a condition of employment on the project; imposing sanctions on or requiring rehabilitation participation for employees convicted of drug violations; and making good faith efforts to maintain ongoing workplace drug-free compliance throughout the contract term.
The certification must be signed by an authorized company representative and submitted with the bid proposal. Employees working on the contract are required to notify their employer within five days of any conviction or guilty plea related to controlled substance violations under Chapter 1893 of Florida law or any federal or state controlled substance law that occurs in the workplace. This form serves as a standard compliance document ensuring that all contractors meet Florida's statutory requirements for drug-free workplace certification before contract award and execution.
